During the reading the public kept relating the shark to the movie "Jaws" in the newspapers and pamphlets it was clear that it was a great white. In 1916 before this happened people weren't afraid of sharks until that movie came out "jaws "it made people terrified of going in the water. So when this was brought about to the public it made people go crazy! Almost as if the movie is real which is not the case it was freak action.

The attacks at matawan, New jersey were caused by a great white shark. Prior to 1916 Shark attacks weren't common among people so there was nothing to really be scared of but after the attack in new jersey, that all changed. This was the third of four killings caused by this same great white shark traveling on the east coast The other 3 attacks happened on the coast of new jersey between July 1st and July 12th 1916.

The attack in this small town was the third of four killings by what was believed to be the same great white shark as it traveled attacks at matawan, New jersey. The were believed to be caused by a great white shark. Many people weren't afraid of sharks until shark attacks started to occur, thinking that the event might happen to them. People think sharks are a serious threat to us. Before these shark attacks happened people weren't afraid of sharks, but when movie Jaws came out, it made people even more terrified of going in the water.

There was a huge Great white shark that had arose from a creek in Matawan, N.J and had killed 4 people. And the kind of sharks that would do this kind of attack are the Great White Shark and the Whale shark. No because they their would have been no shark attacks. And they didn't care about them either. There were three other attacks one in Beach Haven, NJ, another in Spring Lake, NJ, and the final one Matawan, NJ

In Matawan, New Jersey, 1916, an 11 year old name Lester Stillwell was swimming in a creek and was suddenly bitten by a shark. The shark that caused this was a Great White Shark. Sharks were not feared until the movie Jaws came out making people afraid to go into the water. Within two weeks there were 4 shark attacks in 1916.

In the year 1916, Matawan Creek in New Jersey had 4 shark attacks occur in the same month. These attacks were believed to have been carried out by a Great White Shark which was lost in the creek and confused. People probably were not as afraid of sharks back then as people are today, especially after the hit 1975 thriller "Jaws" was released.

During the summer of 1916 in Matawan New Jersey five people were attacked by a shark, and four for these attacks were fatal. These attacks took all took place in a span of just two weeks. These attacks generated headlines world wide. In addition, these attacks prompted scientists to reexamine what they thought they knew about sharks. At the time of these attacks it was believed that a single Great White was responsible for all five attacks. Many thought this single shark was responsible due to a Great White captured that contained human remains. In recent years this theory is widely debated. Many argue that Great Whites are not common in New Jersey water, and do not enter brackish or freshwater. Many claim that their could be multiple sharks responsible. The species the scientists now believe could be responsible for some of the attacks is the Bull Shark. Bull Sharks are common in New Jersey waters, and is known to hunt in river mouths and swim fr up stream. Prior to 1916 people were not afraid of sharks because attacks were not common or in the public eye. The 1916 attacks are extremely unique although, there are similar documented events around the world. In 2010 a similar although far less extreme situation took place off the coast of Egypt. A single shark was believed to have attacked two people. In addition, during the summer of 2015 there was a total of six shark attacks in a span of three weeks off the coast of North Carolina.

In the jersey shore shark attack 4 people were killed and one was badly injured between july 1-12. The attack was caused by a great white shark which at this time was not expected to be in those waters. People were not really afraid until the movie jaws came out in which everyone was in a panic because they saw the movie. There is many other incidents of sharks eating people multiple times in such a small span all across the world down the atlantic and near europe.

Four boys were attacked by a great white shark in 1916. These events took place in New Jersey and are thought to be interesting because the attacks were all caused by the same shark. This is uncommon but not unheard of, In Egypt 2010 2 men were also attacked by the same shark. People were not very afraid of sharks but these attacks made it much more common to have a fear of sharks.

in july 1916, matawan new jersey experienced a shark attack at an inland creek from a great white. after this event and the three others that died in the span of two weeks, people did get scared of sharks. This is also one of the events that inspired jaws. before all of this sharks weren't really thought about as a threat to humans.

This attack in Matawan creek New Jersey was huge because it had killed 4 people by a shark attack.Also this attack was by the same great white shark which must of bin hungry and confused by where it was traveling.These sharks bring the people of this town to become of afraid of sharks and it started a whole big problem.In conclusion,this basically turned out to be like the movie Jaws because people weren't scared at first and then no one would go in the waters.

During the early 90s people did not really have the worry of a shark attack while relaxing at the beach. When Jaws came out everyone changed their whole mood about sharks and were feared of the water and sharks. Shark attacks are very rare but are always a possibility.
