The black material that was in the water in the beginning of the video was ink from the octopus as it swam away. The three cephalopods mentioned are octopuses, squids and cuttlefish. The octopus and cuttlefish are able to camouflage themselves by changing the pattern and texture of their skin to fool their predators. An octopus cannot see color which makes their ability to camouflage themselves that much more fascinating. The dots of pigment that squids and octopuses have are called chromatophores. The main source of protection for cephalopods is their ability to camouflage into any color and pattern in their environment. The animal captured on this video is an octopus.

Cephalopods are in the same family as squid, octopus and cuttlefish. One thing that Octopus can do is change their color to blend into its surrounding, this helps the octopus hide from predators. The Octopus is also color blind so it can not see any colors.
